Thanks to an exclusive technology, but also to a large exchange surface and the lack of a screen (perforated sheet metal or grid), Solaris® has an extrordinary radiation capacity. Its radiation level is higher than that of most other radiators on the market.

The heat emitted is perceived directly by the human body. Its temperature is regular, and there is no difference between that at the feet and at the head. The benefit is felt immediately, with only 1ºC difference between the floor and the ceiling (height 2.5m).

You are enveloped by heat, as if you were in the sun.

Gentle, Enveloping Heat
The glass does not dry the air, or stir up dust. There is no ventilation, and no resistance in contact with the ambient air. The atmosphere is therefore clean and healthy. The smooth surface of the glass simplifies its maintenance.

To heat a typical 3 bedroomed detached house of approximately 100 square metres would require 7 × 1000w Solaris radiators.

If left switched on constantly - which we recommend - it would cost you less than £540 - £640 a year

Technology

Glass is a naturally beautiful material which accumulates heat, which is why Fondis selected it for its Solaris® range. As well as being attractive, it gives off healthy, comfortable heat, whilst saving energy. The radiators are equipped with OHDS (Optimal Heating Distribution System) glass. 5 areas release heat progressively and optimally until a regular temperature is obtained.

Incomparable advantages
Solaris® has a higher than average radiation capacity which generates gentle, enveloping heat which is perceived directly by the human body. Moreover, its smooth surface simplifies its maintenance. There is no resistance upon coming into contact with air, and no ventilation, meaning that there is no air or dust in movement. The atmosphere remains clean and healthy.

Did you know?
Scientific data shows that glass has a capacity for accumulating and giving out heat which is considerably greater than that of sheet metal, heat-conveying fluids or cast iron, and is even greater than that of refractory brick.

Solaris® consists of two high-strength safety glass sheets which are joined together, i.e.

• The OHDS glass sheet, which, after the power is switched on, heats up and transmits its heat to the second sheet, whilst providing radiation and regular distribution of the heat.
• The second glass sheet, the decorative surface of the Solaris® which is on view, and is made of enamelled safety glass, is available in a large number of colours.

These two sheets assist the radiation and the phenomenon of thermal inertia. About 40 kg of glass continues to diffuse heat after the electrical supply has been switched off. Solaris® constitutes a pleasant "warm spot" in the room, which provides unparalleled comfort.

The OHDS System

1. OHDS heating glass distinguishes at least 5 heating areas from the bottom to the top of the sheet. The electrical supply is therefore distributed over these 5 areas of heat, which are self-regulating, taking into account natural convection.
2. Phenomenon of natural convection (the heat rises).
3. The association of the OHDS system with natural convection makes it possible to obtain a regular temperature over the entire surface of the radiator, and so to diffuse stable, gentle heat, whilst optimising the performance and energy consumption.

Controllers

Solaris® radiators use the best technology in order to provide you with maximum safety. Furthermore, for comfort in use you can set your radiator to the comfort, reduced heat or anti-frost modes, by pressing a single button on the thermostat.

The electronic thermostat (standard)
Solaris® is equipped with a "6-command" integrated electronic thermostat which is programmable by means of a controlled wire attached to the back of the radiator. This thermostat is very accurate, and makes it possible to obtain a stable temperature, without adjusting the regulation if the external temperature varies.

By means of a simple gesture you can set your Solaris radiator directly on the device, to "comfort" "reduced heat" or "anti-frost" mode, or you can programme it by means of the pilot wire, if your home is equipped with this.

Radio controlled (as an option)
Solaris® can also be regulated by means of the radio-controlled system. A receiver which is attached to the back of the radiator receives by means of radio waves the information obtained from the "Caléo" wireless thermostat which is fixed on the wall in the room.

The advantage of this is that there is no wiring, and therefore no additional installation work. This very accurate system makes it possible to regulate several radiators at once.

When associated with the "Caléo" thermostat, the "Chrono" programmer adapts the level of heating of the radiators to your pace of life. It allows you to regulate the temperature independently in 4 areas of your home, and so to make even greater savings.

Caléo wireless thermostat
This thermostat, for one or more radiators, is fixed to the wall. It is simple to use and install.

Chronophone
This connected to the programmer and is plugged into a telephone socket. It enables you to switch your radiators on remotely, simply by making a telephone call!

Chrono programmer
There are 20 pre-recorded programmes, or 5 personalised options, as required.
